Overview
Plant People, a popular Mumbai-based plant nursery and botanical design firm needed a professional custom branded online eCommerce presence. We designed and developed their eCommerce website and mobile app, which replaced their previous digital cataloging solution that had begun to show problems in handling the increasing demand.
About PlantPeople
Plant People is a Mumbai-based botanical design company over and above being a plant nursery. The idea is to create planned, designed green spaces with a clear aesthetic rather than just adding pots and plants. The same goes for smaller plant arrangements and green gifting; they love coming up with new designs and ideas.

The Problem
The existing solution to sell online used by Plant People was a digital online cataloging and sales platform. The plug & play nature of the solution was convenient to display the products in the initial stages of business. But as time went on, the need arose for a professional design, custom search features, and smarter categorization.
It was apparent that a full-fledged website was needed to better display everything that Plant People offers, from plants and supplies to entire custom landscaping projects. What's more, the existing solution was showing problems of scale with errors in handling the ever-growing number of payments. Moreover, retaining a quick load time was necessary to reduce dropouts.
Improving the experience for mobile users also needed to address. The current mobile browser version of the online catalog page provided a sub-par experience for the growing number of smartphone users.
The Solution
After learning about the experience and desires of the customers of Plant People, we began work on a new eCommerce website as well as Android and iOS apps.
We designed a website with the Plant People brand in mind and worked closely with them to create specific discovery features such as categories, product tags, and search filters. A convenient and straightforward checkout process was developed to smoothen our bumps in the customer journey towards order payment. This includes an integrated Payment Gateway that does not take the customer away from the website and can scale to handle a large number of daily orders.
The entire online store was deployed on a scalable AWS web hosting environment, capable of serving all levels of current traffic as well as handling future growth in users.
The mobile apps were designed with regular customers in mind. Apart from a clean discovery section and an easy checkout process, we made sure the order details were conveniently available for the customers to view. Order updates through push notifications keep them informed of the current status.
